Pelican Festival

Every fall American white pelicans migrate along the Mississippi Flyway stopping in the  shallow waters of Reelfoot Lake to rest and feed.  Impressive in size and easily identifiable with an 8-10’ wingspan, white feathers, black tipped wings exposed in flight and bright orange massive bills.  Numerous pelicans gather on the waters of Reelfoot to herd small fish by splashing the water with their wings and feet to be scooped into their large pouches.
